Loving the Rain

Sunshine is my friend, I usually feel better when it's a sunny, beautiful day.  This weekend Janet commented on the perfect blue of the sky.  It was gorgeous.  Who doesn't love a day with a perfect sky?  But today is rainy and grey and I'm really happy about it.  Why?  I have to take pictures of some pots.  I normally do this in my studio which has nice light.  That's great for throwing but often puts that unwanted glare on my pots that you so often are tortured with seeing. On a day like today, that's not as big an issue which makes picture taking much easier and with results that make me happier.

Side Handled Teapot
Here's a picture of that teapot I showed you a few weeks ago.  Most of the comments said to add some color, you were all right.  I love the way it came out.  Thanks.

  1. Oh that turned out super, did you use underglaze or glaze to achieve your colors.

    1. Thanks Linda, I used Amaco Velvet underglazes on the flowers then dipped the rest of the pot in a clear glaze then sprayed my green and blue underglazes on the top. The teapot was fired to ^6.

  2. nice! i experimented with some velvet underglazes a couple of months ago and they came out ugly, i don't think i know how to use them properly. you obviously know what you're doing!

    1. Thanks Michele, some of them burn out at mid and high temps so you have to avoid those and putting on 3 or more coats is helpful. I see much better results firing them in oxidation instead of gas also.
