Counting Pots

When some people can't sleep they count sheep. I don't know where that idea originated, do you? Lately it seems that when I can't sleep I count pots.  That's because the Macon Arts Alliance has highly recommended that we bring about 160 pots to the show.  That wouldn't be a big deal but I also have a booth at Georgia Southern's ArtsFest the same weekend that Fired Works opens in Macon so I'm highly concerned about having enough pots for both shows.  I'm also trying to think about the shows that I have on the weekends following this event.  Check out my show calendar in the sidebar if you're interested in coming to any of the shows.

Speaking of coming to the shows, I have some tickets to Fired Works to give away.  The show is April 14 - 22.  If you want tickets just let me know here or via email and I'll send you some.

This pot came out of the kiln the other day and I am really happy with it.  The glaze looks like a beautiful amber celadon but it's actually a combination of two glazes, chocolate and ox blood.  This picture taken with the iPod camera doesn't do it justice, I may have to pull out the camera and light box set-up.

  1. Beautiful glaze!
Omg, if I had to come up with 160 pots right now, I would just quit doing this :)

    1. Thanks Tracey. Thankfully I had ample warning about how many pots I needed, still, I've been throwing and glazing like a mad woman.

  2. I'd be counting pots too if I had to make 160, yikes good luck, that does look like an amber celadon, lovely color.

  3. Looks awesome with the texturing. My amber celadon hasn't been behaving well lately, but I love the look of the transparent amber so I've tolerated it. This is a good reminder that there are alternatives. Thanks.

    1. You can find lots of recipes for amber celadons if yours isn't working well. It's more work to do two colors but this also gives more options. I do love the way it works in the texture, it also has a little bit of crackle that you can't see in the picture.
