Teapots

You may have noticed that I don't make very many teapots.  That may be because I don't sell many tea pots, that may be because I don't make too many teapots.  You see the obvious problem.

Actually, I just don't think about making teapots very often even though I know I should.  Then I read this post by Whynot Pottery and thought.  I can make a teapot a month or a few every other month.  That would be fun and keep it fresh.  I figure I could come up with some fun ideas for teapots as well as making some very classical ones.

Here's a nice, simple one I made recently.

  1. I had never had a teapot before and Gerry gave me one for Christmas last year. I like to take it to my studio with me and then I'm not running back up to the house for another cup of tea. I got my hair cut last week, and they brought me a two cup teapot and a little tea bowl and it was such a nice treat. Hey, a new venue for selling teapots, hair salons, who knew!

    1. Tracey, that's a great idea. What a nice thing to do for the hair salon's customers.

    2. I like this! We have one at the local B&B that gets a lot of use. It has brought us customers and orders for one like it.

  2. You must try the Good Earth teas.

    You WILL make more teapots!!!

    Love their original flavor best.

  4. I keep saying I will make teapots and I never seem to get to it. perhaps I should set the same goal, at least one a month, then at least I'd have twelve in a year. I find them difficult to make and it takes me forever to make one hand built though. Maybe I'll think of a less complicated form as a standard one and then go from there.

  5. HI Lori,
Thanks for linking over to me- I had to go and read what I said and then it showed up other post with teapots...I do need to make more of those. I tend to make at least 4 and no more than 6 at a time. 4 is better because by the time I hit 6 I am not in love with them.... and need to move on.
best of luck playing with them!

    1. Hi Meredith, four at a time sounds like a manageable amount. I'll try that.
