Maya Angelou

She was an artist, she helped change the world.

Maya Angelou was an author, a poet, a singer, and a dancer.  She was also a civil rights activist and a hero to many people.  She stopped speaking for a long time when she was a child yet now she is a voice for so many people who feel like they aren't being heard.  She was strength, love and laughter.  If you have never read any of her work, you should.  If you have, you should read them again.  You won't be sorry.

She was an artist, she helped change the world.

  2. My husband has photographed her many times since she lives in his state, and now he is in Winston covering this sad day. Looks like out anniversary plans this weekend will include covering a funeral. I'm sure it will be an amazing service, what a worthwhile life she led.

  3. I was on facebook this morning when various posts started talking about her, and her wonderful life, each with a different picture and quote. I kind of like this way of receiving the news. She sure was an impressive woman, and will live on in her words to many generations.

    1. Yes Gary, I heard the same on NPR, I had also read it in "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings." It was such a traumatic experience but also one of the thing that made her realize the power of her words. Those word have been so important to so many people.
