The Hand Made Movement

Green and Purple Mug by Lori Buff
Last weekend a man purchased one of my mugs and told me that it was one more step in the gradual change he was trying to make in his life. He and his wife were working on changing all of their dishes with hand made pieces. His idea reminded me of a conversation I had with my dentist. He told me about visiting friends in Asheville, NC who only used ceramic items that were hand made, most by local potters. My dentist talked about how special it was to know that every plate, cup, tumbler, pitcher, etc. was made by hand and was picked out by his friend. No, the dinner set did not match, but it also was not boring, it was magical.

  2. I'm transitioning to hand made local products produced here in the US since I think that is the only way our country will hopefully recover.
