Packing For Penland

It's going to be cold in the mountains of western North Carolina, not very spring like at all compared to Atlanta's weather.  That's okay, I'm still looking forward to it.  I do not handle cold weather very well so I pack on the layers.  Some times I've really felt like that kid on "A Christmas Story" who bundles up so much he can't move.  Yup, that's me, let's hope I don't fall over.

I don't care about the cold, it would even be really pretty if it snows.  It's Penland, I'm going to be working with Linda and Charlie Riggs and it's going to be a lot of fun.

The only thing is that I have to pack all those extra clothes which means an extra suitcase for me.  The nice part about the extra suitcase is it makes you feel like you can bring extra stuff.

Dori Ready For Travel

Well Dori thinks that anyway.  Do you think she wants to come with me?

  1. You are going to have so much fun no matter what the weather is! Linda and Charlie's raku fired pots are amazing... and they are such cool people too.
Jeff and are so anxious for spring. I think we had warmer weather in February... in the 20's when we got up this morning. :-(

  2. You are going to have a great time. I think fleece is one of the great inventions of modern times....warmth, without too much bulk. I know what mean about feeling like Ralphie though.

Even if you don't have time to post I hope you will take lots of pictures and come home with lots of good stories!

  3. Being a girl form the SC coast, I don't do cold well either. If spring doesn't get here soon, I am going to come unglued!
So envious of your Penland trip! I looked at that workshop, if the $$ had been there I would be in that class with you. Maybe you can blog about it, and I can experience it through you, hint hint:)
If the raku kiln is the same one it was when I was there, be careful, there is such little air flow in that area, it gets EXTREMELY HOT! One girl got burns on her skin like sunburn, of course she didn't follow instructions and wore a tank top, but still, it was hotter than any other kiln I have ever fired around. So much fun though, wish I was there!!!!
