Kissed By The Flame

Some pots are quiet, they don’t speak of carving or imagery. This one didn’t even speak of glaze colors or designs. Sometimes it’s a good idea to listen to the quiet. That would probably have been a better name for this post, maybe it’s the name of the vase. With nothing but a spearmint liner glaze, this piece was placed in the soda kiln. It’s about 11 inches tall so it was put in the top with a sculpture and a few other tall pieces. The soda and the flame did the decoration.

The vase is still very quiet but I think it came out well. I’m pleased with the painting the soda and flame did.

East Atlanta Strut Success

It always feels good to have a successful art show, it feels even better when it's in my neighborhood.   This year the East Atlanta Strut was another success for me.  It happens the same weekend as the Atlanta Art's festival so I always struggle with the consideration of which show gets my application.  For the past three years it's been the Strut, mostly because it's right here, a mile from my house and many of my friends and neighbors go to it.  Every year they support me.  Could I do better at the larger show?  Maybe, but would it be as much fun?

Purple Dragon Stein

I sold out of dragon steins, they were very popular.  One nice man bought a green dragon mug and told me he was going to name the dragon Ed.  I will think of this man and Ed the dragon when I make new ones.

I hope you all had a great weekend also.

  1. What a great mug! I didn't know you made these! I've been slaying dragons all weekend, I might need me one of these. Back in the day, my daughter was obsessed with dragons. Now it seems to be me, ha!
Glad it was a good weekend for you, here's to many more
