Ash Glazed Decorative Jar
I've been playing around with this ash glaze combination, I like the results and the depth of color but I think I need to apply the glazes a little bit thicker to get some of that nice running that I like in ash glazes. To get this effect I first put on a layer of Satin Celedon, then I sprayed a green ash glaze followed by a blue ash glaze.
One thing that I really love about this jar is the small lid. So often jars with this glaze treatment have a lid that hangs over the top of the jar, often with wonderful lines and a nice bit of shadowing, I just wanted to try something different. Probably only a potter that is familiar with ash glazes would even notice the lid but I like the way it turned out. What do you think?
